The JICA Group-training course for "Environmental Management Technology in the Chemical Industry" in fiscal 2009 is being held

With the invitation of six training participants (each from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Tunisia and Viet Nam), the group-training course for "Environmental Management Technology in the Chemical Industry" started on June 3, 2009. This project is commissioned by JICA (An independent administrative institution, the Japan International Cooperation Agency).

Training details (Purpose of training, etc.)

This course deals with the entire chemical industry, based on its wide and diversified condition today. The chemical industry ranges from medical, agrichemical, functional chemical products, to paints and dyes, etc. There is an urgent need for the dissemination of environmental management technology in each area. Through introduction of the latest widely diversified technology trends of the chemical industry and the know-how of environmental management technology starting with the petrochemical industry, training participants can acquire the concept of making the economy and the environment compatible. They can also acquire the methodology for implementing this idea, both of which are expected to contribute to promotion of the chemical industry and environmental conservation in developing countries. Also the conditions around the chemical industry and latest issues are studied, including introduction of information of how Japan and other countries are grappling with international agreements concerning safe management of chemicals, aiming at contributing to the solution to environmental problems in the participants’ countries, by promoting their understanding.
