JICA Training Course Starts on “Promotion of Project Formulation of Clean Development Mechanism in Central Asia and Caucasus Region”

中央アジア3A JICA-commissioned training course on “Promotion of Project Formulation of Clean Development Mechanism in Central Asia and Caucasus Region” was launched at JICA Chubu in Nagoya on October 24 (Mon.).

The course is attended by 4 government officials and one staff for a governmental power company: one from Kyrgyz, two from Moldova, and two from Uzbekistan. After an opening ceremony on October 27 (Thur.), these participants made presentations of their inception reports, explaining what problems they need to solve regarding the theme of this course. These reports deepen their understanding of the situation in each of their countries. The course gives the participants the opportunity to learn about Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, which need to be pursued on an international basis to cope with global warming.

ICETT  has implemented the course for the participants who will be a project host country to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to formulate a system that helps their Designated National Authorities (DNA) develop more effective projects and provide investors with useful project information and consultation services.

Officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and JICA have delivered lectures about the Japanese efforts against global warming. While visiting some sites to learn about renewable wind, solar, and biogas energy, the participants have also attended lectures by leading experts, who have long been engaged in global warming issues, on methods for drawing up the Project Design Documents (PDD) for CDM projects.

On November 8, the participants came to ICETT. They listened to lectures, worked on action plans, and will finally present their reports on the 16th before leaving ICETT on the 18th. (Kise)
