Closing of JICA Group Training “Capacity Building for Policy Staff regarding Kyoto Mechanisms”

JICA Group Training “Capacity Building for Policy Staff regarding Kyoto Mechanisms” closed on 16 July 2010. During the 44-days training course, seven participants from Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, Thailand, Ukraine and Kazakhstan enhanced their understanding of Kyoto Mechanisms and countermeasures to climate change. The participants learned mechanism of Kyoto Mechanisms as well as their current situation and future perspectives from lectures, and manner of writing and points to Project Design Document (PDD) to apply for CDM/JI projects. They also learned climate-friendly technologies and examined possibility of applying these technologies in their respective countries. At the end of the training course, the participants developed and presented their action plan, which supports them to make use of what they learned from the training course and solve problems to promoting Kyoto Mechanisms in their respective countries. They learned not only from lecturers and companies, but also from other participants who have different national background but work for the same purpose. They exchanged their information of your country situation and perspectives on climate change and enriched and expanded their knowledge.
In addition, they participated experienced Japanese culture and costumes through not only their 44-days daily life, but also from homestay/homevisit programme, enjoyed Japanese tea ceremony, and visited Japanese temples, and deepen and enhanced their understanding of Japan.
In the closing ceremony, Mr. Kravchenko Yaroslav Anatolijovch from Ukraine gave a participant’s address as the representative of all the participants. He thanked the organizers of the training course and showed his strong will to implement his action plan and work hard on combating climate change. We wish the participants’ success on their work and world-wide contribution to preventing global warming.
