JICA Technical Cooperation Project, The project for total emission control of nitrogen oxide in the atmosphere in China

 To control the total emission of nitrogen oxide in China, cement and other factories were provided with technical assistance to take measures against NOx. A NOx diffusion simulation was carried out to improve methods to learn about the effect of NOx control.

As one of the JICA Technical Cooperation Projects, ICETT implemented a three-year program in China jointly with Suuri-Keikaku Co., Ltd.

Project to support energy saving in India’s steel rolling industry

Country

Contents  As in the previous year, ICETT provided rolling mills in Bhavnagar in the Indian state of Gujarat with technical assistance in the rolling process to save energy.

Project to Support Construction of Infrastructure for the Creation of New Industry Concentration

Contents  Focusing on plasma and ceramics technology, which are strongly related to both the environmental and auto industries, ICETT conducted market cultivation activities in and outside Japan and job creation efforts to develop higher-value added equipment for environmental protection and pollution control while, at the same time, encouraging organic cooperation between environmental businesses and the auto and other manufacturing industries.

Small and Medium-sized Business Industrial Pollution Prevention Survey: Project on “Feasibility Studies for Commercialization and Overseas Development of Equipment Intended to Prevent Industrial Pollution through Industry-academia Collaboration that Use the Strength of the Region”

Based on the survey results of the previous fiscal year, surveys and interviews were conducted among companies and laboratories to examine the possibility of taking the advantage of the local areas and creating academic and corporate partnerships leading to practical projects, such as equipment development. Also, ICETT’s staff members were dispatched to Indonesia, which local Japanese industries are highly interested in, to examine matters such as methods to enter the environment-related market in the country, while exploring the possibility for proposing package plans to support these organizations in cultivating the market in developing countries.

Environmental Technology Overseas Development Feasibility Study Project (Sao Paulo)

Contents  A survey to examine the needs in the environmental field in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, was conducted to promote business expansion overseas by companies in the Chubu central region of Japan, which includes Mie Prefecture, that are engaged in environmental business.

Contents  Together with three other Japanese companies, ICETT took part in the Harbin International Science and Technology Exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. The Japanese group also attended a business meeting in Shenyang, hosted by the Science and Technology Agency of Liaoning Province.

Japan Fund for Global Environment Project “Development of Comprehensive Awareness-Raising Tool for Air Pollution Reduction in Ulaanbaatar City - Raising Awareness by the Environmental Leaders”

Contents  In collaboration with Yokkaichi University, there was a session to cultivate leaders who are expected to play active roles in activities that help protect the environment. Seminars were also held to plan an activity program and to measure and analyze exhaust fumes in model areas.

Chubu Recycle Network (CRN) Tour Takes Plac

Contents

On November 27 (Thur.), 2014, the Chubu Recycle Network (CRN) organized a field trip. It was attended by 16 members of CRN.

Three ICETT officials took part in its afternoon session. The participants visited Kasumi Kyodo Jigyo Co., Ltd. (KKJ) in a Yokkaichi industrial complex and observed wastewater treatment.

The event attracted participants from a wide variety of businesses and organizations. Some teach at a university or engage in engineering, food processing, and local administration, others work in the environmental field, including environmental consulting, construction of energy saving houses, heat exchanging paints and coatings, soil and water purification, and industrial waste disposal.

The participants were quite satisfied with the acquisition of useful information from visiting facilities they usually don’t have an opportunity to see.
