Clean Technology Business Network (CTBN) Program

On January 11, 2017, a business matching forum was held in Indonesia. It aimed at creating projects to tackle global warming issues, while promoting the business matching of developing countries, which have needs for useful technology against global warming, and smaller Japanese companies which own sophisticated eco-friendly technology. Based on the results of the pilot project which was implemented this time, a proposal for a model program was submitted to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to develop the Clean Technology Business Network in the future.

This program was designed to draw up a proposal concerning a model program to develop the Clean Technology Business Network. The network is expected to enable smaller Japanese businesses to smoothly transfer their own advanced global warming control technology to developing countries. As part of the program’s pilot project, online matching opportunities were provided and a matching forum took place in Indonesia on January 11, 2017.

On December 12, 2016, a project development and financing workshop was held in Tokyo as a pre-event for Japanese companies planning to participate in the forum. The advance study meeting successfully encouraged members from these companies to enhance their knowledge and motivation.

As a result, 57 business meetings were conducted at the matching forum in Indonesia. The event provided Indonesian entrepreneurs in the clean energy field with a great opportunity to talk specifically with Japanese businesses. The forum ended with as many as 20 proposals currently under negotiation: seven of them with the completion of non-disclosure agreements or good prospects for the completion of such agreements. Therefore, activities to create future projects that can contribute to controlling global warming are highly expected. Based on the results of this pilot project, a proposal for a model program was submitted to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to develop the Clean Technology Business Network.
