On October 4, a fiscal 2011 Mie Prefecture-commissioned training course was launched on “Industrial Pollution Control Technology Transfer for Administrative Officials from Henan Province, China”. It will end on October 25.
Three officials from Henan Province, a sister province of Mie, are scheduled to take a 22-day course on the establishment of environmentally friendly industries and methods to prevent contamination by livestock generated wastewater, which are among the province's concerns.
The course offers the participants the opportunity to learn about the Japanese legal systems and measures for environmental conservation and industrial pollution control, and to increase their technical knowledge of pollution control technologies, thereby helping enhance their skills to draw up and implement policies back in their country.
The participants make presentations of their kick-off reports, explaining what problems they need to solve with regard to the theme of this course, in order to share an understanding of the situation with each other. They learn about the Japanese legal systems and various pollution control technologies, with an emphasis on water quality.
The participants learn about useful Japanese methods to tackle nitrogen pollution issues attributed to livestock farming. They also learn about wastewater disposal technologies and fermentation floors.
The participants learn about the Japanese environmental protection measures in the production process and pollutant disposal technologies for the purpose of constructing environment-friendly factories in Henan Province where new industrial park developments are planned in the future.
On the final day of the course, the participants present their action plans about the efforts they will make to help solve the problems in their province.
In frequent question-and-answer sessions, they have already shown a serious interest in drawing up their action plans, so the final products of this course are expected to be very effective and practical.
