[Call for Participants] The Second Session of the Glocal Human Resource Development Course Will Be Held

"Connecting Mie to the World through Inbound Tourism"—Discovering Global Opportunities by Showcasing Mie’s Unique Tourism Resources—

ICETT is holding the "Glocal Human Resource Development Course" over a total of three sessions, commissioned by Mie Prefecture.

The purpose of the Glocal Human Resources Development Course is to provide opportunities for young people connected with Mie Prefecture to enhance their international awareness and perspective, and to broaden their horizons to the world. The course aims to broaden the international perspectives of young people who will shape the future of Mie Prefecture and contribute to the development of Glocal human resources.

In the second session,"Connecting Mie to the World through Inbound Tourism; Discovering Global Opportunities by Showcasing Mie’s Unique Tourism Resources"With this theme in mind, we will visit Mikimoto Pearl Island in Toba City, Mie Prefecture.

In this course, participants will visit the Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Museum and the Pearl Museum, and attend a demonstration by female divers (ama) to deepen their understanding of the history of pearl cultivation and ama culture. They will also gain insight into the foresight and pioneering spirit of Kokichi Mikimoto, who succeeded in the world's first pearl cultivation, introduced Japanese pearls to the world, and developed them into a global brand. Participants will also learn about initiatives to attract international tourists by leveraging local tourism resources, the importance of cross-cultural understanding, and consideration for the marine environment, allowing them to reexamine the appeal and strengths of Mie Prefecture from the perspective of international visitors. Furthermore, through a hands-on experience making hand cream using ingredients derived from pearl cultivation, they will deepen their understanding of efforts to utilize local resources in a sustainable manner.

We hope that this course will provide participants with an opportunity to rediscover the charm and strengths of Mie Prefecture, gain a deeper understanding of the connections between the region and the world, and broaden their horizons as individuals with a glocal mindset..

"I love Mie!" "I'm interested in the global world!" Those experiences will broaden your horizons are waiting for you.
