[Registration Now Open] ICETT is hosting a seminar titled “Transforming Logistics: Carbon Neutrality Beyond the Transformation — Decarbonization Starting with Solutions to Labor Shortages and Rising Fuel Costs — (In-Person and Online)

International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) is hosting seminars to provide useful information to the local community with the aim of revitalizing efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in the Chubu region, particularly in Mie Prefecture. In this seminar, we will present insights—drawing from policy trends, leading examples of logistics Digital Transformation (DX), and practical case studies from a small and medium-sized company—on how to achieve both logistics efficiency and carbon neutrality.
Seminar Objectives
Large companies, in particular, are required to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the procurement of materials and the transportation of products. In Japan, the transportation sector accounts for approximately 20% of CO₂ emissions, of which automobiles account for about 86%. Therefore, the logistics sector is also expected to further promote Green Transformation (GX) in the future.
On the other hand, logistics companies are faced with multiple management challenges, such as rising fuel costs and labor shortages, before reducing GHG emissions. In addition, switching to next-generation vehicles such as hydrogen-powered vehicles and EV trucks is currently not a realistic option for many SMEs due to the cost of vehicles and the development of fuel supply infrastructure. Under these circumstances, more and more logistics companies are adopting a practical approach by starting with what they can do using existing facilities and systems, such as thorough fuel efficiency management, eco-driving, and optimization of delivery routes through digital transformation (DX). These can not only reduce fuel costs and address labor shortages, but also reduce GHG emissions and ultimately achieve carbon neutrality.
This seminar is titled “Transforming Logistics: Carbon Neutrality Beyond the Transformation — Decarbonization Starting with Solutions to Labor Shortages and Rising Fuel Costs. The seminar will cover domestic policy trends, case studies of efficiency improvements through DX, and on-site initiatives by a small and medium-sized logistics company. Its goal is to support the first steps toward a transition to sustainable logistics in the Chubu region, including Mie Prefecture.
