【Report】 "Seminar for Promotion of Hydrogen Utilization" was held. (Central Japan Hydrogen and Ammonia Association/International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer)

[Background of the Project]

　Since 2024, the International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) has held seminars to contribute to achieving Carbon Neutrality in Japan and other countries, such as ASEAN, and to promote businesses that contribute to this goal by providing information to companies and organizations.
　The "Seminar for Promotion of Hydrogen Utilization" was held jointly with "Central Japan Hydrogen and Ammonia Association" to introduce policy trends surrounding decarbonization and the latest technologies and demonstration cases related to hydrogen utilization, to realize Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

[Purpose of the Seminar]

　In Japan, Hydrogen Society Promotion Act was enacted in 2024, which promotes the supply and utilization of low-carbon hydrogen and other resources. In the Chubu region, the Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, local governments in the Chubu region including Mie Prefecture and Yokkaichi City, economic organizations, and industrial circles have united to establish the "Central Japan Hydrogen and Ammonia Association" and are working together to promote the implementation of a wide-area society ahead of the world by creating demand and supply of hydrogen and ammonia in an integrated and large-scale manner.
　Against this backdrop, the seminar was held with the aim of further raising awareness toward the creation of a hydrogen society by introducing the latest case studies to related businesses in order to promote the construction of a hydrogen supply chain and the creation and utilization of hydrogen demand.

[Results and Prospects]

　This seminar was held in a hybrid format of on-site and online, and 67 participants from companies, research institutes, and other organizations, mainly from Mie Prefecture, attended. The Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry explained the carbon pricing system and policy trends toward the implementation of a hydrogen society, while JERA Corporation introduced a case study of hydrogen production demonstration tests using SOEC (solid oxide electrolysis cell *developed by DENSO CORPORATION) and Hino Motors, Ltd. introduced a case study of their FC trucks.
　 In the questionnaire after the seminar, participants gave high marks to the seminar, saying that it gave them hints for their own measures and helped them understand the environment and issues in the industry. We expect that this seminar will help promote the utilization of hydrogen and carbon neutrality in the Chubu region.
　ICETT will continue to plan and organize seminars and other activities aimed at promoting Carbon-Neutral initiatives in Japan and abroad and developing local economies.
