ICETT/DIW's Decarbonization Support Program for Thai Companies Introduced at the 3rd AZEC Ministerial Meeting

"Hands-on Support for Thai Companies in Calculating and Reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions" project, which ICETT is implementing in collaboration with Department of Industrial Works (DIW), Ministry of Industry of Thailand, was introduced at the MOU (memorandum of understanding) ceremony of the 3rd AZEC (Asian Zero Emission Community) Ministerial Meeting held in Malaysia on October 17, 2025

What is AZEC?

AZEC ("Asia Zero Emission Community") is a framework for cooperation toward carbon neutrality/net zero emissions in the region, involving 11 AZEC partner countries (Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).

2. Outline of the introduced initiative

• Project name:
  (Official name: Hands-on Support for Thai Companies in Calculating and Reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions)
• Period： Being conducted from FY2024
• Main Content:
  - Support for the calculation of GHG emissions for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand
  - Proposing improvements for decarbonization
  - Holding seminars on dissemination and awareness-raising
• Cooperating organizations: Department of Industrial Works (DIW), Ministry of Industry, Thailand, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), etc.

2. Background

• Signed a cooperation MOU with DIW last year and developed projects to promote decarbonization of Thai industry (especially SMEs) in collaboration with DIW.
• The above project was recognized as an AZEC cooperation project by the Japanese (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and Thai governments, and the cooperation MOU between ICETT and DIW was introduced at the MOU ceremony of the AZEC Ministerial Meeting.

3. Future actions

　In cooperation with the Japanese government (METI), the Thai government (DIW), and related organizations, we will continue to contribute to the promotion of decarbonization in the Thai industry through this project, and we will also strive to promote the transfer of advanced decarbonization technologies of Japanese companies (especially in the Chubu region) to the Thai market.
