[Notice] The 4th Carbon Neutral Seminar will be held in Thailand, co-hosted by the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) of the Ministry of Industry of Thailand and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Summary
International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT), in collaboration with Department of Industrial Works (DIW) of the Thai Ministry of Industry and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), will hold a two-day seminar on August 6 and 7 in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The seminar includes GHG emissions calculation and reduction and promote efforts by Thai food-related companies (including Japanese companies) to decarbonize their operations.
Background and Objectives
ICETT and DIW signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in promoting carbon-neutral (CN) in Thai industry in May last year. We have had three times of CN seminars in Bangkok as cooperative activities based on the MoU.
Due to requests from Thai, we plan to hold two more CN seminars in this fiscal year (FY). The 4th CN Seminar, scheduled to be held in August, will be the first one in this FY.
This seminar will be supported by Global Environment Facility (GEF) program through UNIDO, as in the previous FY.
Seminar Outline
In addition to lectures and exercises on the calculation and reduction of GHG emissions, the program will include case studies of initiatives by local companies; presentations of energy-saving products and services by Japanese companies that contribute to GHG reduction; and panel discussions on challenges and strategies for achieving carbon neutrality.

Related Initiatives
As part of the cooperative program with DIW, ICETT and DIW will provide new support this fiscal year to individual companies for calculating GHG emissions and related activities.
Approximately three companies will be selected from among the local companies-including Japanese companies- that participated in last fiscal year’s 3rd CN Seminar. The support will be provided in cooperation with specialized consultants from Japan.
The results of the support will be shared with other local companies to promote their initiatives in the Thai food-related industry.
