JICA Water Pollution Control Capacity Improvement Project in Cambodia: In-country Training Course Completed

　The JICA Cambodia Water Pollution Prevention Capacity Improvement Project in Mie Prefecture has been completed.

　A total of seven officials from the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia, as well as from the Environmental Department of the Phnom Penh Metropolitan Administration, Kandal Province, and Kampong Speu Province, visited wastewater treatment facilities, mainly in Yokkaichi City, to learn about the water treatment process of water and sewage systems based on Japanese laws, effluent standards, and Mie Prefecture regulations, as well as on-site inspection methods by the Mie Prefecture, analysis and measurement of water quality, The participants learned about monitoring methods, etc.

　At the end of the training, many of the training participants said that the training was so meaningful that they wanted to take more time to learn more in depth.

　We hope that this training will help improve the water quality management system and policies in Cambodia.
