Report】Kick-off seminar was held in Thailand to commemorate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Thai Ministry of Industry and Factories Department.
Summary
The International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) of the Thai Ministry of Industry on May 15 in Bangkok, Thailand, regarding support for the calculation and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Thai industry.
In conjunction with the MoU signing ceremony, a kick-off seminar was held on May 15 and 16 for Thai government officials and local companies, where lectures and group work were conducted on issues, measures, and initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality.
background
Since FY2023, ICETT, which is engaged in technology transfer for the realization of environmental conservation, and DIW and the Industrial Division of the Royal Thai Embassy in Japan, which promote measures for the "greening" of industry in Thailand, have been exchanging views on each other's visions, initiatives, and issues. Through these discussions, both parties were able to confirm the significance and direction of cooperation in the area of environmental conservation in the industrial sector in Thailand, especially in the area of carbon neutrality, which led to the conclusion of this MoU.
DIW is a part of the Ministry of Industry and is in charge of factory operation licensing, factory safety and environmental management, chemical and hazardous substance management, industrial waste management, and promotion of "green" policies such as carbon neutrality in industry.
