Report】ICETT Environmental Seminar (Web Seminar) "Promotion of Plastic Resource Recycling through Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration - The Chubu Region will be Interesting from Now on" was held.

Holding web seminars

 The International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) held a web seminar on Friday, November 27, 2020, inviting experts and specialists in various fields from industry, government, and academia to discuss the promotion of plastic resource recycling and the development and diffusion of alternative plastics from various perspectives.

Web Seminar Overview

  • The seminar was attended by 158 people (guests, lecturers, and related parties: 21; participants via Zoom: 137), far exceeding the originally planned capacity of 80, and was a success.
  • The Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry gave a speech by the guest of honor, introducing efforts for plastic resource recycling in the Chubu region and expressing expectations for the Foundation.
  • Experts from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), who are active on the front lines, gave a lecture on the direction of the Japanese government's policy on plastic resource recycling.
  • Experts from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) gave a lecture on the current status of international standards that are important for the development and diffusion of biomass plastics and biodegradable plastics, as well as basic ideas for standardization formulation.
  • Experts from Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Oji F-Tex Corporation gave lectures on their efforts to reduce the use of petroleum-based plastics, representing the companies that are engaged in research and development of alternative plastics and in raising public awareness.
  • Participants asked questions to each lecturer and actively participated in the event.
  • In the questionnaire after the web seminar, we received high evaluations such as "I learned a lot from the lectures from various perspectives," and "The lectures were very professional and helpful for planning future measures," as well as requests and suggestions for future seminars.
