Report] "The Second Study Session on the Potential of Environmental Business in Pacific Island Countries" was held.
Summary
ICETT held the "2nd Study Session on Environmental Business Potential in Pacific Island Countries" on August 4, 2020, in Nagoya City, Japan, to support companies with excellent environmental conservation technologies in Pacific island countries in their efforts to promote plastic resource recycling.
ICETT has so far held a "Seminar and Study Session on the Potential of Environmental Business in Pacific Island Countries" on February 4, 2020 in Nagoya City. ICETT also conducted a 14-day field survey from February 22 to March 6, 2020, on the current status and issues of waste management in the Republic of Fiji (Viti Levu), and on Japan's interest in waste plastic treatment technology. The first part of this study session featured a report on the results of ICETT's field survey in Fiji. At the same time, Mr. Oi, a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer, introduced more locally-grounded information on the waste management situation and environmental education in Palau.
The second part of the meeting was devoted to the second Fiji field survey plan and the call for participating companies.
In consideration of the spread of the new coronavirus, online participation via webcast was also available for this year's event. In addition, Mr. Ooi was able to participate via remote connection.

Second Fiji Field Survey Plan and Call for Participating Companies (Koto Yanogawa, Business Planning Division, ICETT)
