Classification of Technology:

Air Pollution Control

Type of Industry:

Chemical; Petrochemical

Subject:

Treatment of Flue Gas ( Reduction of NOx, SOx and Soot )

1. Purpose
To reduce NOx, SOx and soot in flue gas discharged from chimney stacks.

2. Applied technology and the Time
Denigration equipment, desulfurization equipment and electric precipitator were installed as a part of the treating facilities of flue gas. ( 1989 )

3. Principle
1) Denigration ( Dry ammonia catalytic reduction method )
4NO + 4NH
3 + O2 -> 4N2 + 6H2O
2) Desulfurization ( magnesium hydroxide method )
SO
2 + Mg(OH)2 -> MgSO3 + H2O
2MgSO
3 + O2 -> 2MgSO4
3) Soot ( Electric precipitator )
Flue gas is passed between multiple electrode charged with high voltage where soot particles in the flue gas are collected by charging the particles negatively and attracting them to the positive electrode. The particles adhering to the electrode are removed mechanically by tapping with a hammer.Flow is shown on the next page.

4. Effect and Achievement
