Removal of Exhaust NOx by Ammonia Catalytic Reduction Method
1. Purpose
Removal of 85% of NOx generated in the boiler furnace in line with switching of its fuel.
2. Applied Technology and the Time
As a result of changing the boiler fuel from heavy oil to petroleum coke, the concentration of NOx in the exhaust gas increased because of the nitrogen content in the fuel. Removal of NOx was therefore carried out by using the dry ammonia contact reduction method. ( Sept., 1992 )
3. Principle
Use a high performance honeycomb type catalyst.
4NO + 4NH3 + O2 -> 4N2 + 6H2O
Flow is shown on the next page.
4. Effect and Achievement
Before Application
After Application
Exhaust NOx ( equipment outlet ) ( ppm )
-
48
The installation of the denigration equipment make the use of the cheaper fuel ( petroleum coke ) possible and also the reduction in fuel expenses is achieved.
5. What to do next ?
To confirm the degree of the catalyst degradation by its extended use.
