Keynote speeches are delivered to seek broad consensus from the participants for effects of energy efficiency on the global environment and the industrial development as well as to provide the participants with regional and international experiences in the topic.
This session focuses on national and sectoral policies, measures and responses to increase energy efficiency in industry. It introduces the demand side management programs at IEA and energy efficiency programs in Japan. It also highlights Japanese software-technologies and practices for energy efficiency.
Site visit will show the participants how the Japanese enterprises practice energy efficiency in the plant. The Chubu Electric Power Co., inc( External link ) is the biggest electricity supplier in Chubu region, and one of the leading companies of energy efficient operation in the locality. The visit focuses on managerial and technological aspects of private sector’s efforts to enhance energy efficiency and reduce GHG emission.
This session is to review a fundamental concept of cleaner production and the current situation of its diffusion all around the globe. It examines some of the constraints for promotion of cleaner production at the factory level as well as the keys to be integrated into national or sectoral programs to promote cleaner production.

The program of the workshop includes two evening sessions on 19 and 25 October. It is casual-style meeting to introduce ICETT on-going projects to the participants and get their feedbacks. It also aims to facilitate free discussion with ICETT staff members as well as to build intimate relationships among the participants and the staff members. The participants are welcome to bring relating topics and issues that they would like to discuss and share with the other participants. The themes of the session are as follow;
The workshop offers Saturday and Sunday program to widen the participants’ understanding on renewable energy and waste minimization practice in Japanese society. The participants will have opportunities to expose themselves to get familiarized with Japanese history and local cultures, as well.
