2017 Summer Eco Fair Takes Place

On July 22 (Sat.) and 23 (Sun.), the 2017 Summer Eco Fair was held in the Suzuka Foothills Research Park . ICETT participated in the Fair.

The 2017 Summer Eco Fair, an annual event, was co-hosted by the Mie Environmental Education and Information Center, Yokkaichi University, and Azuma Industry Co., Ltd. ICETT was one of the venues and was visited by many people. ICETT not only exhibited at its booth but also took part in the Summer Eco Course on the Environment in ICETT.

At its booth, ICETT, as it had done before, used panels, leaflets, and related materials to promote environmental protection and provided information on the environment and ICETT’s activities, with help from the ASEAN-Japan Centre and other relevant organizations.

Pictures and posters were posted to present the social environment in ASEAN countries and ICETT’s activities in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and joint projects with Yokkaichi University in China and Mongolia. To help understand ICETT’s activities, a questionnaire survey was conducted among children and adults and a quiz session regarding the environment, national flags, and souvenirs from outside Japan, was arranged for elementary school students.

For elementary school-children in the lower grades or younger, it was their first time to see the word “environment”. So, a quiz game was designed for them to understand it by answering questions about what they have to be careful about in their daily lives. They learned about the environment, looking for hints on the panels. Elementary schoolers in the higher grades or older learned, through a quiz session, about the global environment and why developing countries should be assisted.

ICETT also participated in the Summer Eco Course on the Environment, which was organized for the first time this year. The course provided adults and children with a rich experience of lectures, demonstrations, experiments, and exhibition booths. ICETT delivered a lecture on international environmental cooperation to ensure the future of the Earth. At the Yokkaichi University booth, “Doraemon’s Room” and “Soil Experiment” enjoyed popularity among the children. There was a lecture for adults and elementary school students in the higher grades or older. Many of the participants earnestly listened while taking notes about questions and answers.
