International Environment Lectures were held

On June 16, Lecture on International Environment at Yokkaichi University

Local Environmental Studies is one of the community-based extension courses at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies at Yokkaichi University. In past courses on Local Environmental Studies, members from the following local organizations or groups presented their own activities: the Yokkaichi Pollution and Environmental Museum for Future Awareness, the Environment-Energy Education Study Group in Yokkaichi University, and a group that engages in explaining the history of Yokkaichi pollution caused by petrochemical complexes.

ICETT has worked together with Yokkaichi University. As its experts and professors from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies cooperated with ICETT in delivering lectures for visiting participants and surveying the envionmental present situation of Asian countries such as China, the Philippines, and Mongolia. As part of its community partnership program, ICETT presented its activities at the High Schoolers' Environmental Summit and the Community Partnership Forum, which were both organized at the university.

In the course on Local Environmental Studies, ICETT delivered a lecture, entitled “environmental activities”, on the international environment.

At the beginning of the lecture, Dr Satoshi Chiba, professor of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, presented the outline of the program. Following that, ICETT explained its own activities to 41 listeners. They were either students of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies or those who are interested in environmental issues. Examples of efforts made in ASEAN countries and Palau were featured. ICETT continues to work closely with Yokkaichi University in various forums and extension courses, too.

The students earnestly listened to the explanations while showing their interest in international cooperation in the environmental field of other countries. After the lecture, they exchanged opinions with students from China, Vietnam, and Nepal, about environmental problems their countries are confronted with.
