Indonesia-Japan Business Matching Seminar for Water Issues was held in West Java and Banten Provinces, Indonesia

 

 Chubu Bureau of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT) organized "Indonesia-Japan Business Matching Seminar for Water Issues" in Indonesia.

 The Seminar was held in Bandung City of West Java Province on 8th September, 2015, and Tangerang City of Banten Province on 10th September, 2015, co-organized by Provincial Environmental Management Agency of each Province, and in cooperation with Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Osaka, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO), Environmental Pollution Control Association of Indonesia (APPLI) and Indonesian Society of Sanitary and Environmental Engineers (IATPI). Each Seminar met around 100 participants from industrial companies and organizations, hospitals, government organizations, research institutes and so on.

 At the Seminar in West Java Province, Ms. Dince, Head of Environmental Control Division of Environmental Management Agency of West Java Province gave Welcome Speech, while Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Prayatni S., M.S., Head of Water and Wastewater Engineering - Research Group, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Institut Teknologi Bandung gave Keynote Speech.

 At the Seminar in Banten Province, Dr. M. Nasir Azis, M.Si, M.Kes, Head of Environmental Management Agency of Banten Province gave Welcome Speech, while Prof. Dr. Hefny Effendy, Director of Center for Environmental Research of Bogor Agricultural University gave Keynote Lecture.

 Presentations regarding water-related technology by 7 Japanese companies attracted the attention of Indonesian participants. At the ensuing Business Talk Session, many pairs of Japanese and Indonesian participants lively exchanged the challenges in wastewater treatment, water purification and water recycling, and possible solutions to the challenges.

 During the stay in Indonesia, the Japanese mission members visited Jakarta Office of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for information exchange, and Environmental Management Agencies of West Java Province and Banten Province for Courtesy Call and discussions. Field visit to local wastewater treatment facilities was also conducted, and they had a small-scale seminar with Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia.

 It is expected that this opportunity expands business between Indonesian and Japanese companies, followingly contributes to improvement of water environment in Indonesia.
